Tamahere Lions Best Artisan Market

Looking for something special to do in the Waikato? Visit the Tamahere Lions Best Artisan Market – a vibrant, family-friendly market held every two months at the Tamahere Community Centre. This Tamahere market is a perfect day out where you can shop, relax, enjoy a coffee, and support the local community all in one place.

Our bi-monthly artisan market and pop-up book fair features over 40 carefully curated stalls, both indoors and outdoors. You'll find a diverse range of quality products including fresh food, artisan coffee, homemade baking, local produce, original artworks, handmade crafts, garden décor, unique gifts, woodwork, upcycled treasures, and even quirky steampunk items. There's always something new to discover.

More than just a market, this Tamahere market supports a wide range of local, national, and international community causes. Proceeds go directly to charitable initiatives, making your purchases even more meaningful.

We're proud to also collect donations of quality toys, books, and clothing for Kids in Need Waikato, along with used spectacles for the Fred Hollows Trust, and wine bottle tops and can tabs for KidsCan NZ. Your small acts of giving help make a big difference.

Admission and parking are free, and there’s always a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor, we’d love to see you there.

Don’t confuse us with the Tamahere Country Market – we’re the other great Tamahere market, run with heart by your local Lions Club.

Farewell to the Best Artisan Market

After many years of bringing our community together, the Best Artisan Market has come to an end.

Our final market is held on 13th December 2025.

The market has been more than just stalls and shopping — it’s been a place for people to connect, support local businesses, and raise funds for community projects. While visitor numbers have declined in recent years, we’re proud of the impact the market has had and the friendships it created.

A huge thank you to all the stallholders, volunteers, and visitors who supported the market over the years. Your involvement helped us fund initiatives like Spirit of the Awa (our E‑Trike) and other local projects.
